A music therapy internship with Village Hospice provides an enriching experience for music therapy students who desire an opportunity to work with hospice patients and families during the end of life.
The philosophy of Village Hospice is to care for each patient and their family with dignity, com-passion and grace. Our goal is to provide music therapy that will touch our patients spiritually, socially, and psychosocially and bring them great joy.
Village Hospice has offered music therapy for more than 10 years, developing a wonderful program that is an important part of the interdisciplinary hospice team.
Internship director Sharla Whitsitt developed the program and has over 10 years of experience. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri–Kansas City, and is certified in hospice and palliative care music therapy.
The Village Hospice offices are located in Lee’s Summit, MO., a suburb of Kansas City, Mo.
We are looking for interns who are motivated to use their music therapy skills to bring life to the final weeks of those near the ends of their lives — and their families.
Two six-month internships are offered by Village Hospice each year, one in January and one in June.
